Touring Bloomington

A couple months back my best friend Mabel was able to visit Bloomington. I met Mabel when we were Resident Assistants together on IU's campus several years back. We've both traveled the world around since then, but try to see each other whenever we can. It was a short, but sweet visit. It was neat to see her react to what had changed in Btown since she lived there during undergrad.

We stopped by Soma and got dirty chais (our favorite from back in the days when Read dorm was the only place with a coffee bar. Those drinks filled our long nights of homework, duty, and bulletin board making. Then we headed down to the Sample Gates and through campus.

We strolled through the newly emptied campus, as classes had just ended. And, of course, we stopped back at Forest to see our old stomping grounds. We were both RAs of Hutton Honors floors together and we did a lot that year. But, fun fact, Mabel was the RA of the floor above me my freshman year in Forest and I was scared of her. During RA training the following year I didn't know how the year would go working in a community with her. I found her so intimidating then. That was silly, though, as Mabel is one of the sweetest and most caring people I have come to meet in my life. We've lived in Bloomington together, spent time in Europe together, and have become family. It was neat getting to revisit Forest with her. We made Sam take pictures of us by our old residence center.

Then, it was time for pizza! Naturally we went to Mother Bear's, a Bloomington favorite. It was much too short of a visit, but I'm so glad I got to spend time with an old friend. Until next time, wherever that may be!
